Tom Hogarty has been an active member of the Escondido community since he moved to inland North County from his
native New York City in 1987.
A former newspaper reporter, magazine feature writer and editor, he
understands what makes news and knows how to get your product or service into print.
Tom is an active member of The Escondido Chamber of Commerce. He served as chairman of its Economic Development Committee
for several years prior to being appointed Chairman of the Board for the Chamber's 2008-2009 Chamber year. He initiated
and continues to emcee the Chamber's Business Before 9 monthly networking breakfasts. He is a member of the Chamber's
Board of Directors and serves as a member of the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee, Economic Development Committee,
and Member Services Committee.
He is a key part of how the Chamber communicates with its members and the community-at large.Tom is an Editorial Committee
member of the Chamber's full color, slick quarterly publication, Escondido Magazine, about to begin its third consecutive
year of publication. A frequent article contributor to the publication, Tom also serves as advertising representative for
the well-received magazine.
Tom is also editor of the Chamber's monthly newsletter, the Online Advocate, and serves as the Chamber's public relations
person.
In addition, he is a past president of the 210-member Escondido Rotary Club and past president of the Club's Foundation.
His song parodies are legendary as he makes good use of his vast knowledge of his popular music background to "honor"
weekly speakers with different words to the works of Porter, Gershwin, Berlin and Hammerstein, among others.
In his spare time Tom is a member of a local Barbershop Quartet, as yet unnamed. Stay tuned.
